Publishing Campaigns
Experience
Caroline began her publishing career at Quercus, working across both literary and commercial fiction, before moving to Ebury at Penguin Random House as Head of Marketing and a member of the executive team. Over her career, she has worked across memoir, lifestyle, history, smart thinking, cookery, personal development, business, entertainment, music, literary fiction, and commercial fiction, combining strategic insight, creativity, and commercial acumen to ensure books reach — and resonate with — the readers who matter most.
At Ebury, she led on digital and audience strategy, delivering campaigns that included out-of-home, radio, digital and social advertising, social strategy, positioning, and audience development for bestselling authors such as Marie Kondo, Chris Packham, Ottolenghi, Edith Eger, Janina Ramirez, James O’Brien, and Caitlin Moran. She also worked on high-profile campaigns for Brene Brown, John Bishop, Michael Rosen, David Attenborough, Michaela Coel, Dara McAnulty, and Adam Grant — spanning specialisms in music, lifestyle, smart thinking, wellness, and beyond, from memoir to how-to, art to comedy, and cricketers to comedians. Her campaigns for James O’Brien and Chris Packham were recognised with Book Marketing Society Awards.
Since founding Convert Culture, Caroline has continued to deliver impactful campaigns for Bloomsbury and several PRH divisions, combining audience insight with creative execution.
She now chooses to work on just a select few titles each year, bringing a highly focused and tailored approach to every campaign. Examples include paperback campaigns for the High Performance podcast book, the TIFO book, and Cariad Lloyd’s book on grief. Her work on Stolen Focus for Bloomsbury earned another Book Marketing Society Award for its originality and effectiveness.
Her audience research for Bloomsbury has also informed the strategy for some of the biggest campaigns and books of the last couple of years — from Sarah J Maas to Rutger Bregman — as well as shaping audience and comms strategies for Thames & Hudson, Granta and Quadrille to name a few.
What We Offer
Convert Culture offers campaign support to publishers as a trusted and experienced partner. We can lead the digital elements of a campaign, informed by audience research, or oversee the entire campaign end-to-end, including creative development, out-of-home and radio advertising, and digital and social implementation.
Our expertise ensures campaigns are audience-focused, strategic, and seamless. Having run busy in-house teams ourselves, we understand the value of a senior-level, reliable partner who can take full ownership of a campaign and deliver with ease, freeing up your internal team.
We work flexibly to suit your needs — taking full responsibility for the campaign when required, or providing discreet advice, support, or managing key elements behind the scenes, so the author and agent continue to view your team as the primary point of contact.
